The ConnectModule is the hidden link between your Bosch smart-system e-bike and the outside world. It enables GPS connectivity, over-the-air software updates, anti-theft alerts and the online features you manage through the eBike Flow app — without needing your phone connected every ride.
It is part of the integrated smart system package alongside the drive unit, battery and display. You will find it on current Riese & Müller, Tern and other premium models we stock at e-Bike Barn.
What does the ConnectModule do?
- Connectivity — cellular link for location, status and remote features when the bike is parked or in use (subject to subscription and region)
- Over-the-air updates — firmware for motor, battery management and connected features without visiting the workshop
- Anti-theft support — movement alerts, location tracking and lock integration on compatible setups
- Flow app pairing — seamless hand-off between on-bike display data and phone-based setup, navigation and ride history
- Workshop diagnostics — faster fault finding when our technicians connect to the system
Connected services in practice
Theft protection. If your bike moves when it should not, Flow can notify you and show last-known location — peace of mind for bikes parked in town or at trail heads. Effectiveness depends on mobile coverage and how the manufacturer has enabled the feature.
Software updates. Bosch rolls out improvements to riding behaviour, connectivity and compatibility over time. Many updates install automatically when the bike is charged and connected — we still recommend periodic workshop checks for safety-critical components like brakes and tyres.
ConnectModule vs System 2
Older System 2 bikes used the eBike Connect app with different hardware — not the ConnectModule + Flow ecosystem. Both generations remain serviceable in our workshop, but connected security and custom riding modes are strongest on smart-system bikes with ConnectModule fitted.
Subscriptions & setup
Some connected features require an active Flow subscription after any included trial period. When you collect a new bike we can help with first pairing, app setup and explain which services are included. If you buy used, we can verify connectivity hardware and update firmware during a pre-delivery inspection.
New bike handover
We pair Flow, check ConnectModule status and confirm the latest firmware — so connected features work from day one.
Used bike check
Confirm smart-system generation, test connectivity and reset app pairing if the previous owner’s account is still linked.
